Half shirt, half (lightweight) jacket, this Viyella Mens Plaid Overshirt is the ultimate layering piece harkens back to the 1950s and 60s with heavier weight sports shirt jackets. Originally particularly popular in Canada and US where the temperature could plummet, there was both a need and desire for a warmer heavier weight shirt jacket that gave both warmth without compromising the ease of movement. Viyella became the must have and king of sports shirts in the 1950s & 1960s. Unlike most jackets at the time, Viyella shirt jackets did not include a lining, giving that new ease of movement for the modern man of the 1950s. The Original shirt jacket was important for use in sporting activities, initially for popular sports such as golf and skiing and in more vibrant bold colourations, and later in hunting, shooting and fishing in more muted plaids and tartans.
 
Styling is based on the original 1950’s & 60’s Viyella sports shirt jacket. Viyella Mens Plaid Overshirt has a soft collar and unconstructed styling to give ease of movement , round cuff one button, with short gauntlet x2 front pocket with mitre flap detail, buttoned through generous size the intimate layering piece.

Can be worn over a shirt in the same way as a jacket as opposed to being worn as a main top.

Fabric designed to give warmth without adding weight.
Both the face and the back of the fabric has been brushed for increased softness and comfort in wear.
